Understanding Primary Complex or Pulmonary Tubercolosis un Children

Hi luvies,

It's been a month since my baby was diagnosed with Primary Complex and to tell you honestly I was mortified.  I didn't really understood why and how and all the question marks are asked.  My mind has all the questions and doubt and I was in denial for the first few days.  I didn't even bother to buy the kidz kit forte  3 because I refuse to believe it and I doubted my doctor.  I always asked my ever reliable friend Mr. Google
about the facts and blogs and forums about Primary complex.  Then I started accepting the fact that it's not on;y us who is suffering from this kind of disease.  But the hard thing is the involve here is our 1year old daughter and its hard to face the fact that she will take the 3 medicines in just 1 day.  It's tough.  The first day was really hard.  I felt like I was poisoning my baby. I should be the one who will be the one to take medicines and not her.  I really feel awful thinking about the side effects of this kind of medicine to her little body. She was prescribed with Kidz kit Forte 3.  And she didn't want to take any of the medicine.  That's why we bought the syringe for easier administration.  Well, nagboboxing pa din kami lol.
Her weight during that time was 8.3 5g pedia said it was supposed to be 10 kg for a 1 year old.
so her doze was Rifampicin = 3.5ml
                         Isoniazid=2.0ml
                         Pyrazinamide = 2.0ml

She was also given 1 ml of zinc and 4mg montelukast.  We actually bought a nebulizer for her because of her cough and cold.  By the way prior to that diagnosis she was hospitalize due to pneumonia. and guess what 10days after hospitalization she still has pneumonia.  She had 6 chest x-rays before they found out that she has koch's infection.  Then we had PPD( purified protein derivative) induration of 8mm.  According to Mr. Google she should have an induration of more than 10 because she had BCG vaccine when she was a baby but her pedia said its not always the case.. geez.

Btw, the only signs and symptoms she had during that time was cough and colds for more than 3 weeks. She is so thin and unable to gain weight, kinda pale looking but is very active.

 Falling in love is awfully simply, but falling out of love is simply awful.

Hi. My 1 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with Primary complex. As a mom, like you I am very worried. I would like to ask lang po if there were side effects of the drugs to your baby and how is she doing after taking the medication? Hoping to hear from you. Thanks a lot.

@Ericka- I am so sorry for the late reply. She is now 7 years old and she is doing fine. Just battling some bouts of cough and cold though. It goes with the weak lungs and the environment.
